L’interview de Ray Bradbury parue dans le #192 de la Paris Review est dispo en ligne. En voici un petit extrait, qui intéressera tout le monde (amateurs de SF et geeks). La VF est juste en dessous :
INTERVIEWER
Have you ever used a computer?
BRADBURY
Up until my stroke, I used a typewriter. An IBM Selectric. Never a computer. A computer’s a typewriter. Why would I need another typewriter? I have one.
INTERVIEWER
Most would argue that a computer makes revising a whole lot easier. Not to mention spell-check.
BRADBURY
I’ve been writing for seventy years, if I don’t know how to spell now . .
INTERVIEWER
Do you keep a notebook?
BRADBURY
No. As soon as I get an idea, I write a short story, or I start a novel, or I do a poem. So I have no need for a notebook.

avez-vous jamais utilisé un ordinateur ?
BRADBURY
Jusqu’à mon attaque, j’utilisai une machine à écrire. Une IBM Selectric. Jamais un ordinateur. Un ordinateur est une machine à écrire. Pourquoi aurais-je besoin d’une autre machine à écrire ? J’en ai une.
INTERVIEWER
La plupart des gens diraient qu’un ordinateur facilite vraiment les révisions. Sans parler de la vérification orthographique.
BRADBURY
J’écris depuis 70 ans, si je ne sais pas encore comment écrire…
INTERVIEWER
Utilisez-vous un bloc-notes ?
BRADBURY
Non. Dès que j’ai une idée, j’écris une nouvelle, ou je commence un roman, ou je fais un poème. Je n’ai donc pas besoin d’un bloc-notes.
