The walls were simply lined with books. <\/p>

Not merely films. There were films, of course, but these were far outnumbered by the books \u2014 print on paper. He wouldn’t have thought so many books would exist in usable condition.<\/p>

That bothered Foster. Why should anyone want to keep so many books at home? Surely all were available in the university library, or, at the very worst, at the Library of Congress, if one wished to take the minor trouble of checking out a microfilm.<\/p>

There was an element of secrecy involved in a home library. It breathed of intellectual anarchy.<\/p>

Cela tracassa Foster. Pourquoi donc voudrait-on garder autant de livres chez soi ? Certainement, ils \u00e9taient tous disponibles \u00e0 la biblioth\u00e8que de l’universit\u00e9 ou, au pire, \u00e0 la Biblioth\u00e8que du Congr\u00e8s, si on daignait faire l’effort de sortir un microfilm.<\/p>

Il y avait une part de myst\u00e8re dans le fait d’avoir une biblioth\u00e8que personnelle. Cela respirait l’anarchie intellectuelle.<\/p>
